Who are the guides?

The guides are volunteers with an interest in The Elms and its place in the history of the Bay of Plenty and New Zealand. They are trained to show visitors around the buildings and grounds of this former mission station. They will tell you stories of the early years of Alfred and Charlotte Brown's mission work, the troubled times of the land wars, the establishment of the township of Tauranga, tales of sacrifice and dedication by subsequent owners in their efforts to preserve the property and its contents.
